Well, we are really alive, it has been such a long time since I have written. So much has happened since I last wrote.
Our trainers left last Tuesday morning early, we only really had three good days of training before they left and it has been a nightmare trying to remember all the many procedures and things that have to be done to run a mission office. Dad and I have really felt the spirit of the Lord guiding us. I could never have done all the things I have been doing on a computer if it were not for His help. This truly is the work of our Savior and He is always there to help.
I had times in these past two weeks when I was so discouraged and so homesick for my comfort zone, but I am feeling much better now and each day it does get better.
This past week we went with the mission president and his wife to three Zone Conferences, one here in Brampton, one in Hamilton and one in Kitchener. Hamilton and Kitchener were about 50 to 60 miles away and of course we got lost going to Hamilton, we were an hour and a half late. But we made it with the help of our mission president's wife standing on the curb in front of the chapel on her cell phone guiding us there. We went by Map Quest and she said it is very hard to follow and since we have been having trouble with our GPS we found ourselves heading toward Niagara Falls, but not for long. We didn't have much trouble with Kitchener.
We have been so impressed with these wonderful missionaries, what great testimonies and power they have. We have l53 missionaries in our mission; this includes 4 sets of senior couples and 2 sets of senior sisters.
Each meeting Dad and I bore our testimonies and we felt our testimonies grow just by sharing them with these missionaries.
On our way home from Hamilton we passed over Lake Ontario, it was beautiful with choppy waves because of high winds.
We have had very nice weather, in the 40's of 50's with rain on a few days. In the Great North of our mission they had 6 inches, so you can see the difference and the area that we cover.
Dad really missed being with his sons last night, he went with Elder Walker, (the former temple president) and said it was so nice but not the same as with his sons. He is so proud of you for still going as am I.
During the afternoon break, Dad and I walked around the pond below our building to see the Canadian Geese and Malard ducks, they are really beautiful. The babies should be hatching in a few weeks and then we will really have a lot there.
Dad and I are still meeting people on the elevator each day and are sure enjoying it. We have people from all over the world and they are so fun to meet and talk to.
Tomorrow night we go with Brother and Sister Walker to our youth home evening group. We have about 9 or 10 that come to ours. There are two other groups that other couples are doing and they are getting about the same attendance. We feel very good about this because they have to get their own transportation and it is after work and school so they are coming because they want to not because it is in their home and their parents are having it.
Wednesday night we are having dinner with our branch president and his family, what fun to have good company and a good home cooked meal.

This is what the farms look like in Ontario, they take great pride in keeping their barns and silos looking well kept. Look at those beautiful clouds that are rolling in. In the summer this land will be filled with row after row of tall corn, it looks beautiful.

We all gathered together at the president's house to have a day where we learned about the Spirit teaching us and then in the afternoon after lunch Sister Middleton had two hairdressers come and show the sisters how to take care of their hair and also give them hair cuts. It was a very fun day. I love these young women, they are very special.

Every three months the missionaries that live within an hours drive away are allowed to attend an early morning session at the temple. These are the missionaries gathered out front after a session.

This is where they bult pigeon houses to keep pigeons in for the family to eat as well as their eggs. I am glad I wasn't there because I would not have let them do that. Poor little birds.

This is the castle that was built in the 1830's by Allan McNab from Scotland, it was one of the first to have indoor plumbing, the house is decorated with furniture from the period and is really beautiful. You can see the pigeon roof to the far left.

Our church building is close to the Pearson Airport in Toronto; if we are not taking anyone home after church then Elder Ward drives me over to the road that is next to the runway so I can watch the planes taking off and landing. This plane is landing.

They have milk in cartons here but it is much cheaper to buy the milk in our heavy duty plastic bags, you pour the milk in pitchers and use it that way.

Our former senior sister bought these at a garage sale and didn't have enough room to take them home so we are baby sitting them until we send them home in June with President Middleton's things. They are really beautiful, carved from wood, the plant is really growing since I put them there, I think it is afraid of them.

These are our latest missionaries to go home this week, we are going to miss them soooo much. Elder Krivanec was originally scheduled to go to Croatia, they closed the mission the day before he was to leave the MTC so he was sent to our mission, at first he was broken hearted, but he has been one of the very best of the best.

He is from Richfield and was one of our Spanish speaking Elder, Elder Garcia is from Idaho and is a new missionary who was being trained by Elder McAllister. Sister Tyler and Sister Worley who live in the apartment with Sister Stevens in our building. Sister Worley was born in India and adopted by a single mother in Utah and raised in Utah; her mother died and then her grandparents continued to raise her after her mother passed away then her grandparents died and with her inheritance she is paying for her mission. A very special young woman. She arrvied this week and Sister Tyler is her trainer.

President and Sister Hadley, he is the Ontario Temple President, very nice people. The couple next to them are the senior missionaries from the mission office in the East Mission, I talk with her every day on the phone, I love her. Next to them is Sister Stevens who is the other senior missionary in the office with Elder Ward and me.

I'm getting a little tired of the pictures, the gentleman next to me is a convert from Aftrica and a very nice man, his family is part here and part there so he travels back and forth.

Elder and Sister Farley, they are from Arizona. They are senior missionaries with the Public Affairs office, they live in our building too. We go to dinner with them often and Dad drives one of the vans along with Elder Farley to take the missionaries on transfer day. They have fun driving the vans and being with the missionaries. This last week that they drove Sister Farley came and helped Sister Stevens and me in the office, I really enjoyed her.

You can see the kids playing on their make shift arena, they were good.The kids in the area cleaned off the snow on the pond and made a hockey rink, and used an old shopping cart for the goal. We had fun watching them. They were very good. One boy would be behind the cart and get the puck when the other shot over the cart.

Brother and Sister Ludlow, she runs the Distribution Center next to the temple and the first Sunday night of each month she has a Family Home Evening for the senior missionaries as well as the Temple President and some of their good friends, we usually have 16 people there. The Ludlows furnish us with dinner, and a theme each month, it is so fun to try and guess what her theme will be. Sister Steven and I take a salad each month to help her.

We are holding the stockings that Mark and Kristine sent us for Christmas, we enjoyed our little tree,it didn't have much on it but it was really cute. We used all the decorations and tree from the other senior couples before us. Easy to put up and take down.

The Toronto (Pearson) Airport is over from our YSA chapel and I love to watch the planes coming and going. Many times after church, if we aren't taking anyone home, Dad will drive me over so I can watch the planes landing and taking off. This is an Air Canada plane. I also watch them from the office when I get a chance at lunch as they fly over and also from our apartment at night when they come in. You all did not know how much I love to watch planes. I hate to fly on them, but love to watch them. The missionaries really get a kick out of me and my airplanes.

This is the town of Leamington on the bay of Lake Erie. This town has the title of the largest tomato supplier in Canada. The white building is a hot house where all the plants are planted during the winter for summer planting. We have a beautiful chapel in this town.

This was the day before Sister Kulbeth left for home. She was one of our very best missionaries, she reminded me of Shelby and Elisha. I came to love her dearly. She is from Colorado and still kept on being a missionary all the way home on the plane, airport and now that she is home she is still looking for contacts through her YSA group. She is Great.

Elder McKinley and his companion, Elder Kneale, from Australia. Elder Kneale has just arrived and has been training with Elder McKinley in Chinese. Elder Kneale mother is from China and his father from Australia, they are divorced but even though his father is a non-member he called Dad and asked if he could help with his son's mission, Dad called the Bishop where his father lives and made arrangements for him to help with Elder Kneale's mission. He is a fine young man,

This is the bell tower that we went to in Simcoe, sorry it is sideways, we will figure out how to fix it by next time. The bells are at the very top and the clock chimes every half hour.

The Relief Society from the different wards provide lunch for the Zone Conferences, after the missionanries stand and sing "Called To Serve" for the sisters and clap to show their appreciation.

missionaries doing their car inspections after our training, Dad and I were out there to help. The missionary pair that had the best kept vehicle got $10.00 gift certificates from WalMart, so they were anxious to have the best car; the missionaries checked each other's car to make it more honest. The Elder that played the carillon bells and his companion won that day.

You can see the tiny with the larger, many people own these islands and have homes on them, they can only reach them by boat and in the winter the river freezes over so they walk across where it not too far or come back in the summer. This is where the 1,000 island dressing comes from. In all the shops in town they have bottles of real 1,000 island dressing and it is soooo good.

Smallest working bridge in Canada, it connects on island to another. There were so many tiny islands and many larger ones as well.

This is the river boat we went on the the seniors from the East Mission. We toured the thousand islands that are at the opening of the St. Lawrence River. We were on the second floor where they served lunch as well. We had a great time. It took us almost three hours to get there but the ride was beautiful.

Sister Green is the other senior sister that works with us, she was the one that had a grandson die of a drug overdose. She is in her late 70's and goes home this fall. She is over referrals and supplies for the missionaries. She has a winter coat on because our air conditioning didn't work for a week, it was so cold in their office that they had to wear sweaters and coats. Sister Green is from East Salt Lake. I love both these sisters.

Sister Stevens, senior sister from St. George, she is over the vehicles and behind here are all the vehicles and the missionaries that drive them. She has been inactive for 30 years until her husband died a few years ago from alcohol abuse. She decided that she wanted to go to the Celestial Kingdom and became active and asked to go on a mission. She has a son who is inactive but very good to her and a daughter who is active but not that nice to her, go figure. I love her, she has earrings for every occasion. She is related to my cousin Irene through marriage, her father and Irene's fathe were brothers.

Two of our Elders here in Brampton. Elder Rock on the left lives in Alpine and graduated from Lone Peak. He is from Korea and was adopted by his family in Alpine. They both are terrific.The Elder on the right, Elder Larsen, is a District Leader in Brampton.

This is the front of our building, it is even more pretty now, all the flowers are out and they have water in the outdoor swimming pool just to the left of this, they also have a barbeque area and gazebo to eat and sit and read in as well as a tennis court.

This is the "munch & mingle" after Sacrament meeting each Sunday, after church we all go into the cultural hall and have a fun time getting to know each other and eat good food that our entertainment committee prepares. We help them each week.

This is the YSA building in the East Mission that we meet at each week, it is in Mississauga, Ontario. The inside has beautiful wood work everywhere, it was one of the first buildings built many years ago.
